Bio

Biography:

Dr. Vidal-Chiesa completed her doctorate in Rhetoric, Theory and Culture at Michigan Technological University in 2023, where she discovered her passion for teaching. Her scholarly interests include composition pedagogy, organizational communication, writing program administration (WPA), and emotional labor, especially in relation to graduate student labor. Her work centers around the idea of developing more fair and equitable professional experiences for graduate students interested in WPA. 

Her undergraduate teaching focuses on writing in engineering. Before joining the faculty at UC Davis, Vidal-Chiesa taught different courses such as composition, advanced composition, technical and professional communication, and Spanish at Michigan Technological University. 

At UC Davis, she teaches upper-level writing classes and is currently working on forming and growing campus and community partnerships, especially with STEM disciplines. 

When she’s not teaching, or reading, she can be found doing yoga, hiking, paddle boarding, or tending to her plants.
