Future of Writing 2027 Conference Opens Call for Proposals

The call for proposals has been released for the Future of Writing: Conversations Across California Higher Education, a conference taking place July 15-16, 2027, at Cal Poly Maritime in Vallejo, California.

Organized by Cal Poly and UC Davis in collaboration with faculty across California Community Colleges, California State University, and University of California campuses, the conference will explore how writing and writing education are evolving in the age of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.

The program will explore four key areas: AI and Emerging Technologies, evolving writing instruction and pedagogy, Peer and AI Review + Reflection (PAIRR) approaches to feedback and revision, and opportunities for collaboration across California’s higher education systems. It will feature interactive workshops, individual presentations, and panel presentations from scholars, educators, researchers, and administrators.
