In 2009, Rebekka completed her PhD in English with an emphasis in Professional Writing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. While at UWM, she taught courses in business writing, technical writing, professional and technical editing, composition, and reading.
Rebekka is now an Assistant Professor in the UC-Davis University Writing Program, where she teaches writing in the disciplines and professions courses, such as Business Reports and Technical Writing.
During the past few years, Rebekka has worked as a technical editor, content specialist, editorial and research assistant, process documentation specialist, and technical writer. Research Focus
Rebekka’s research focuses on the evolving identity of the field of technical communication and the role of information technology in shaping that identity. Most recently, she is studying the diffusion of content management (CM) technologies in information-development teams, exploring the relationships among managers, technology developers, and information designers and how these relationships and the processes supporting them impact the diffusion, implementation, and adoption of new technologies.
Her research has also focused on editorial roles and processes as well as writing pedagogy, including teaching visual rhetoric as a critical reading practice and teaching project management strategies for successful collaboration in writing courses.
