About Alan Cheuse
Cheuse,
a celebrated novelist, essayist, and story writer, has appeared weekly,
as a commentator on books for
National Public Radio since the early 1980s, for which most NPR
listeners across the country may recognize him. He is a long-time
teacher
of writing at George Mason University. In June 2009, Cheuse published a
collection of lyrical travel writings, A Trance After Breakfast. Cheuses’s latest novel, To Catch the Lightning, follows the career of turn of the
century photographer Edward S. Curtis and his quest to photograph the
western tribes of North America. Cheuse’s work has appeared in the New York Times, the San Francisco Chronicle and many other publications.
