Workshops:

Empowering Primary Writers  (Grade K-2)

Even our youngest students can write, and it’s never too early to start. Come and learn how one primary teacher empowers her students to enter the writing community...from day one.  Through modeled lessons, mentor texts, demonstration and high expectations, you will see the potential growth that K-2 students can make.

Presenter: Andrea Allen, Riverview STEM Academy, Folsom-Cordova USD

Creating a Culture of Writing (Grades 3-6)

Students will write and enjoy writing if they believe they are writers.  Learn how you can create a writing culture through the use of the writer’s notebook, mentor texts and high-interest, engaging lessons.  Specific strategies and lesson to start your students off on the right foot will be highlighted with ideas you can use the very next week.

Presenter: Amy Cimino, Rio Linda Prep Academy, Twin Rivers USD

Argument Writing and the Writing Process (Grades 6-12)

From developing prompts and text sets for argument writing to prewriting, drafting, revision, and editing, this workshop will walk participants through the writing process from beginning to end. In addition, tools to help students read critically and respond in writing will be shared moving all students toward success in argumentative writing.

Create a Paperless Learning Environment with Google Classroom (all grades)

With all the incredible tools Google has to offer students, it can be overwhelming to keep track of student work. Come see how Google Classroom can personalize, distribute, collect, and organize your workflow. Participants will walk through how to set up a Google Classroom for their own students with ideas that can be used right away, as well as ways to differentiate instruction for small groups or individual students without printing or copying a single piece of paper. Make Google Classroom the personal assistant you've been missing.
