What’s Your Opinion? (Grades K-2)
Choice empowers students to write about their own thoughts and ideas. In this workshop, we will model lessons based on what we have used in our K-2 classrooms. You will leave this session with a toolbox of ideas to inspire your students to explore opinion writing.
Presenter: Poppi Canepa-William Brooks Elementary and Natasha Friegang, Buckeye Elementary, Buckeye USD
Would You Rather…? (Grades 3-5)
Would you rather spend a Saturday morning laying in bed or learning fun and creative ways to teach opinion writing? We know the answer to that, so join us for this interactive session where you will learn how to teach the opinion standard to students while engaging them in writing genres for various purposes and audiences.
Presenter: Gwen Branin and Nicole Wilson, Riverbank Elementary, Washington USD
Using Google Classroom as a Writing Hub (Grades 6-12)
Maybe you've been using Google Classroom to distribute work, or even collect some writing—or maybe it's still pretty new to you. Regardless, come see how to use its features in new ways to get your students engaged in all sorts of writing practices: on-demand revision, discussion groups, "digital seminars," and more.
Note: This session will meet in the media center with access to Mac computers. If you prefer, bring your own device as WiFi is available. Please make sure you have a Google account and bring your log-in information.
Presenter: Colin O’Connor, Jesuit High School
