UWP Collaboration with Engineering Highlighted in The Davis Enterprise

University Writing Program Continuing Lecturer Laurie Glover's partnership with the Department of Civil Engineering received mention in The Davis Enterprise on Wednesday, April 22. Students in Glover's section of UWP 102E, Writing in Engineering, are simultaneously enrolled in Prof. Deb Niemeier's senior design course, both of which are focused on the potential development of a local property. In one course, the students are creating design alternatives, and in the other, the same students are analyzing transcripts of community members' speeches and op-ed pieces to determine the underlying values driving the development. The collaboration between Glover and Niemeier is part of a five-year study of innovations to engineering course curricula.
