UWP lecturers present papers at popular culture conference in Boston
Four UWP lecturers presented papers this April at the Popular Culture Association and American Culture Association Joint National Conference held in Boston, Massachusetts. Pamela Demory offered “Queer Romance in the Movies” in the Gay, Lesbian, and Queer Studies Area. Melissa Bender’s gave a paper entitled, "Object Lessons: Teaching Advanced Composition Through Material Culture" and Karma Waltonen read "Whedon's Liminal 'Reavers' as Societal Critique." Katie Arosteguy presented an excerpt from a chapter forthcoming in the essay collection Mad Men, Women, and Children: Gender and Generation in Mad Men, titled “ ‘It Was All a Fog’: Motherhood and the Birth Experience in Mad Men”
