Vanity Fair International Correspondent William Langewiesche to Lead UWP Workshop, Dec. 2

The University Writing Program is proud to announce that we will be hosting a workshop with Vanity Fair’s chief international correspondent William Langewiesche.

The workshop will be held in Voorhies, room 126, at 4.30pm on Tuesday, December 2nd.

Langewiesche was for many years national correspondent for the Atlantic Monthly before moving to Vanity Fair. His reporting on terrorism, arms smuggling, airline safety, the last flight of the space shuttle Columbia, the destruction of the World Trade Center and many other issues has won him numerous awards. He is the author of several acclaimed books, including American Ground: Unbuilding the World Trade Center and The Atomic Bazaar: The Rise of the Nuclear Poor.

In addition to being one of the country’s most respected journalists, Langewiesche is one of the few journalists who can claim a prior career as a professional airline pilot. He is also a long-time resident of Davis.

Langewiesche will be speaking on the craft of writing, and on pushing the boundaries of traditional journalism. The event should be of tremendous interest to writers, students of history, politics, and economics, and anyone else engaged in the study of America’s role in the world today.
