UWP 102 Instructor Enrollment Responsibilities
If you are asked to teach a course in Writing in the Disciplines, you will need to take the following steps to ensure that the class is fully enrolled with the appropriate students:
- Monitor enrollments as soon as students begin enrolling in the course (early in the quarter preceding the quarter in which you will be teaching the 102). Email any student whose major makes it seem unlikely that he or she is knowledgeable about and interested in the subject matter of your 102.
- If your enrollment is low or many students seem to be enrolled inappropriately, visit large lecture classes that might serve as “feeder courses” to your 102, describing your 102 and explaining its benefits. (Timing is crucial; you should make these visits before Pass 2 begins.)
