UWP proudly presents a free, on-campus, open event, featuring James Ragan, author of Too Long a Solitude, Ragan's sixth book of poetry. Mark your calendars and tell a friend. The event is Wed afternoon, May 20th, 2-4 PM on-campus, 126 Voorhies.
Staged as a one-man panel, Dr. Ragan will discuss his travels, writing, and
diplomatic outreach activities around the world, as well as give a poet’s
view on “written discourse as social/political/gendered/ethnic common
ground.” He will also perform several selections from his new book. Known
triply as a scholarly lyricist, Hollywood screenwriter, and
interdisciplinary communicator/statesperson, James Ragan (see bio below)
represents a fascinating blend of Lit-Crit, Rhet-Comp, WID-WAC, and MFA.
Dr. Ragan will also appear, later on in evening on May 20th, as the
featured performer at the popular downtown Davis show, Bistro 33 (B33)
Poetry Night, 1st and 3rd Weds of every month. Poetry Nights are
hosted/emceed by "Dr. Andy" Jones, award-winning UWP faculty, KDVS radio
host, and ALSO the Monday Night Pub Quiz Master at B33.
Hope to see those of you who are "day birds" at the UWP meet 'n' greet, 2-4 PM Wed May 20th in 126 Voorhies, and those of you who are "night owls," later on that same day at the Bistro 33 events room, 9-11 PM.
